這句諺語是美國作家、詩人暨教育家亨利·范·戴克 Henry van Dyke Jr. 所創(chuàng)造的。范·戴克生于賓州，生前是普林斯頓大學(xué)教授，也是基督教長老教會牧師，曾經(jīng)同時擔(dān)任美國駐荷蘭和盧森堡大使。
