Mr Brown has a parrot. It is a beautiful bird. Every morning Mr Brown speaks to his parrot.

“Hello!” he says.

“Hello!” the bird says.

“What are you doing?” Mr Brown asks when the bird is flying around the room.

“What are you doing?” the bird repeats.

One evening, when Mr Brown was not at home, a thief came into the house and wanted to take some things away.

“What are you doing?” the bird asked. The thief heard this, left everything, and ran away.

Mrs Green loved flowers and had a small but beautiful garden. In the summer her flowers were always the best on the street. One summer afternoon her bell rang, and when she went to the door, she saw a small boy outside. The boy was holding a lot of flowers in his hand. He was about 7 years old.

“I am selling flowers,” he said. “They are quite cheap. I picked them this afternoon. Do you want any?”

“My boy,” Mrs Green answered. “I have lots in my garden. I needn’t pay anything for them.”

“Oh, no, you haven’t,” said the boy. “There aren’t any flowers in your garden because they are here in my hand.”

This is Jones’ Health Center. It’s closed until 8 o’clock tomorrow morning, but here is some important information. To make a date with one of the doctors, you can phone us tomorrow. The number is on 9733260. The health center is always busy early in the morning so please phone after 8 am.

If you want to get medicine, you can go to Padley Shop, that’s P-A-D-L-E-Y. It is open until 10 pm every evening, including Sundays. Take the No 6 bus to the Main Street. The shop is right there.

If you need to see a doctor nowright away, please go to A&E at Howard Hospital. They are open 24 hours a day.
