Since ancient times, teaching has been a noble profession. And teachers are often compared to “gardeners” and “candles” which burn themselves but light the way for others. This indicates that people have a special respect foe teachers and the job of teaching. According to brilliant individuals throughout the history of Chinese education, we can see that the responsibilities of a teacher lie not only in the inculcation of knowledge, but also in the setting of good examples and cultivating of virtues.

自古以來(lái)，教書(shū)就是一份高尚的職業(yè)。老師常常被比作園丁”和燃燒自己點(diǎn)亮別人的“蠟燭”。這表明人們對(duì)老師和教書(shū)工作有特殊的尊敬情結(jié)。早中國(guó)的教育史調(diào)查中，我們可以看到，教師不僅肩負(fù)傳播知識(shí)的重任，同時(shí)也在道德、倫理和愛(ài)國(guó)主義方面給學(xué)生樹(shù)立榜樣。歷史上有很多鮮明的例子。

Today, it is encouraging that there are a large number of educators who are willing to dedicate themselves to the educational cause. Although they work hard with extensive knowledge and rigorous scholarship, they remain unknown and ask for nothing. All these qualities mark them out as noble and pure personality of teachers.

今天，令人鼓舞的是，大量的教育工作者愿意投身于教育事業(yè)。他們教學(xué)嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)，學(xué)識(shí)淵博，孜孜不倦。他們默默無(wú)聞，不圖名利。所有這些都表明了教師高尚純潔的品質(zhì)。

However, it is also regret that some teachers are doing things not in line with their identity. They, for example, ask for extra fees from students with various excuses. Some even peddle products which have nothing to do with teaching. Though such teachers are very small in number, the harm they caused is serious. They might bring about bad effects on students and ruin the image of teachers as a whole.

然而，遺憾的是，現(xiàn)在有些老師做出一些不相符于他們高尚形象的事情。比如說(shuō)，他們以各種各樣的借口向?qū)W生收取高額費(fèi)用。有的甚至向?qū)W生兜售與教學(xué)無(wú)關(guān)的產(chǎn)品。盡管這樣的老師是少數(shù)的，但是他們帶來(lái)的傷害卻是嚴(yán)重的。他們可能給學(xué)生產(chǎn)生不良影響，損壞教師的整體形象。

As far as I am concerned, I wish all teachers would treasure their glory and respect bestowed by society and regulate their behavior. Leave virtue and kindness to your students instead of greed for money because only this can bring happiness to them. This is my own experience.

就我而言，我希望所有的老師珍惜社會(huì)賦予他們的榮譽(yù)和尊敬，規(guī)范他們的行為。給你的學(xué)生留下美德和仁慈而不是對(duì)金錢(qián)的貪婪，因?yàn)橹挥羞@樣才能給他們帶來(lái)幸福。我就是我自己的經(jīng)驗(yàn)。
