BEIJING, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- A senior Chinese official said Thursday that social welfare publishing houses should improve their technologies and services to better serve the people. Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau, made the remarks at a meeting to celebrate the 90th founding anniversary of the People's Publishing House, the CPC's flagship publisher. The People's Publishing House should take the lead among social welfare publishers to improve internal efficiency and services to their readers, Li said. The publishing houses should also adopt more modern technologies to increase their influence and competitiveness, the official said. The People's Publishing House was established in September 1921 and is the CPC's first publishing agency. It has made outstanding contributions to the spread of Marxism and the party's policies in China. |
