全球最POP的流行音樂雜志《滾石》與MTV音樂電視聯(lián)合評選出了自1963年以來世界最偉大的一百首流行歌曲。“甲殼蟲”樂隊的經(jīng)典老歌“Yesterday”（昨日）被傳唱三十七年，經(jīng)久不衰，高居百佳之首。
《滾石》與MTV策劃本次評選活動。之所以把評選的時間范圍定在1963年至今是因為1963年“甲殼蟲”樂隊首次登陸美國演出標志著現(xiàn)代流行音樂時代的開始。僅僅選出代表這個時代的100首經(jīng)典歌曲并非易事，五位《滾石》雜志的編輯和來自MTV的節(jié)目制作人、研究人員經(jīng)過反復(fù)斟酌、仔細推敲才最終確定了這100首具有代表性的歌曲。
