哈佛圖書館訓言


哈佛大學圖書館是美國最古老的圖書館，也是世界上藏書最多、規(guī)模最大的大學圖書館。有5位美國總統(tǒng)、30多位諾貝爾獎金獲得者曾在這里學習過。
　　1638年，學校校務委員約翰·哈佛病逝，他把一半遺產(chǎn)和私人藏書捐獻給學校。學校就以哈佛命名，哈佛的捐獻成為當時圖書館的主要財產(chǎn)和資料。經(jīng)過300多年的發(fā)展，哈佛大學圖書館的藏書達1000多萬件，設有100多個分館。不僅學校的每個學院都有自己的圖書館，而且還有各類專業(yè)圖書館。分館大部分設在哈佛大學校園內(nèi)，有的遠在美國首都華盛頓市，甚至意大利的佛羅倫薩。其中燕京圖書館收藏有中國的珍貴圖書；拉蒙特圖書館是世界上第一個供大學本科學生專用的圖書館；魏德勒圖書館是哈佛大學藏書最多的社會科學和人文科學的研究圖書館。
　　哈佛大學圖書館有一個目標。就是要使學校達到“教育的珠穆朗瑪峰”，占據(jù)世界第一流的位置。他和國內(nèi)外100多家的計算機數(shù)據(jù)庫建立了聯(lián)系，熱情周到地為師生提供各種資料。
　　哈佛大學圖書館的20條經(jīng)典訓誡
