One. They‘re walking to Sara‘s car. It‘s cold out, and he can see the white puffs of their breaths coming in staggered rhythm. Michael looks back, again, and is amazed, again, that he‘s on this side of the gate. Sara catches this. "Are you all right?" He smiles at her. "Yes. Yes." She looks away, a little shy, and the color in her cheeks is only partly from the wind and the cold. In the three years that they‘ve waited for this exact moment, they were never really alone. And suddenly Michael can‘t help it, he reaches out for her hand, because he wants to. Because he can. Sara‘s breath catches, but she squeezes his fingers. "Are you all right?" he asks. "Yes," she says, smiling, blushing, eyes bright. "Yes. Yes." Two. (我個人最喜歡的一節(jié)~~) Their oldest child is sweet, like Sara, but bizarrely smart, like Michael, and they should have hid their secrets better. When Lincoln is eleven (他們的兒子也叫林肯。。。太狗血了!), he finds some paperwork from Michael‘s long-ago parole. "Mom? Did dad...?" Michael looks across the table, where he‘s sketching preliminary thoughts for a new building, to where Sara is editing a new article. They share a look, and the look says: we knew this was coming. And: f**k. And: Okay, we can handle this. Right? Right. And: I love you, and he‘s only eleven, and there‘s two of us, and we can take him in a fight. (哈哈~~~可以想象他們倆面面相覷的場景) He reaches for her hand, and she reaches back, and their fingers intertwine, and Michael feels the familiar jolt of comfort and attraction he still feels whenever he touches his wife. "Okay," Michael says. "Before you were born, I did something really stupid..." Three. "Do you want to know?" They look at each other, and back at the monitor, and Michael doesn‘t tell her that he has already worked out the answer: the image is fairly clear, and the baby is well-positioned. Sara‘s fingers tighten in his. "Michael?" "Whatever you want," he says. He says this to his wife a lot, and means it. Not: "I don‘t have an opinion." Or "You decide, because I don‘t want the pressure." But: "You being happy makes me happy, and that‘s all." "Yes," Sara tells their doctor. "We want to know." "It‘s a girl," the doctor says, and Sara weeps a little. Michael kisses her right there, in front of the doctor and the nurse, and then he takes his wife home and makes love to her, careful and sweet. (還會有一個女兒~~~會不會叫 Veronica??) Four. Michael doesn‘t know how he lucked into this life, which is a weird thing to say, maybe, with the dead mom, and the vanished dad, and the brother executed for a crime he still believes he didn‘t commit. But here he is, holding his wife‘s hand, watching their nephew graduate from high school. And he has no idea how he talked Sara into raising LJ with him, or why she said yes, or even how she was able to give LJ what he needed, but here they are. "Sara," he says. "Hmm?" "Thank you." Sara says nothing, but leans over, and kisses him, softly. "Lincoln Burrows Jr.," the announcer says, and Sara stands and applauds and whistles, and in general makes a huge spectacle of herself, and even from here, Michael can see that LJ is both horribly embarrassed by this, and deeply pleased. (呵呵，LJ也長大了~~) Five. (OK， 總得有一點點帶色兒的吧~~) This is the evening of their first date, which lasted from 10 that morning, when he was released, until now, a little after eleven. They put up a good effort at not tumbling into bed immediately, but they‘ve been waiting for three years, and they barely made it through lunch before Michael kissed her, hard, and Sara‘s hand was on his belt buckle, right there in the restaurant. "Maybe we should go," she said, breathlessly. "Sara--" He feels like he should say no. Like he should wait. He doesn‘t want to rush her into anything that she‘ll regret, and when he says all these things, she laughs at him, and waves for the check. "Michael, we‘ve waited three years. If that‘s rushing it..." He still feels like he should argue, because something in him worries that she‘ll come to her senses and leave him if he takes her too far, too fast. But Sara‘s clever fingers trace along the lines of his belt, and he‘s a man, after all, and he‘s been locked up with a bunch of men for three years, and the waiter doesn‘t even have time to bring over the check. Michael slaps bills on the table, and pulls her out of the restaurant. The first time was fast, and half-clothed, and the second time was slower, and after the third time, Sara is breathless and boneless and it takes five minutes before she can say that they really seem to be getting the hang of this. Michael laughs, and takes her hand, and watches her sleep. QUOTE:
